Workshop Topics:

  • Self-Submission Strategies: Learn how to effectively submit yourself or your child for auditions and casting calls, including tips for creating a standout submission.
  • Membership Websites: Discover key websites and platforms where you can find auditions, casting notices, and industry resources, and learn how to maximize their potential.
  • Understanding Unions: Gain insight into the various entertainment industry unions, such as SAG-AFTRA, and understand their roles, benefits, and membership requirements.
  • Headshots & Resumes: Learn the importance of professional headshots and how to format a resume that highlights your or your child’s skills and experience.
  • Identifying Your Type: Understand the concept of “type” in the entertainment industry and how to identify and market your or your child’s unique qualities.
  • Seeking Representation: Discover when and how to start seeking representation from talent agents or managers, and what to look for in a good representation.

Workshop Format:

  • The workshop will be interactive, with opportunities for questions and discussion. Participants are encouraged to bring a notepad and pen to jot down important information and tips.

About the Instructor:

Kelsey Cooke: Kelsey grew up acting professionally in Hollywood, signing with her first agent at the age of 7. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts from Vanguard University, and pursued a Broadway, TV and Film career in New York upon graduating, working on shows like PAN AM (ABC) and ROYAL PAINS (USA). Her work eventually brought her back to Hollywood where she trained in improv at The Groundlings, UCB and Second City. Kelsey appeared in LIFE PARTNERS (Tribeca & Sundance Film Festival), BLACK NOVEMBER (Vivica Fox), BAD TEACHER (CBS) and THE VERONICA MARS MOVIE. In 2020 she Co-Founded “thisishardtoread” productions and is an award-winning producer, writer, and actor on the award-winning feature comedy/mockumentary film, RE-OPENING.
